WASHINGTON, April 16 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush
was "horrified" by the shooting at Virginia Tech university
that killed at least 22 people including the suspected gunman
and wounded many others, the White House said on Monday.
The federal government was monitoring the situation and
while state and local authorities were investigating, federal
assets were available if Virginia should request them, White
House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.
"He was horrified and his immediate reaction was one of
deep concern for the families of the victims, the victims
themselves, the students, the professors and all of the people
of Virginia who have dealt with this shocking incident," she
